Subject: Last Best Chance to Increase Funding for NIH in FY2008 - Must Override President's Veto!

Dear FASEB Society Members:
This morning, the President vetoed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 Labor-HHS-Education (L/HHS) appropriations bill, which included $30 billion for NIH and represented an increase of $900 million for research. The President vetoed the bill because it is $10 billion more than he included in his FY2008 budget. However, it's important to remember that if the President's budget were enacted, NIH's FY2008 budget would be cut by nearly $300 million in FY2008. Therefore, we are calling on you again to contact your House and Senate members to ask them to vote to override the President's veto of the L/HHS appropriations bill. ACT NOW! Contact your Representatives and Senators: It is our final, best chance to make a meaningful difference for NIH in FY2008! Please take one minute to click below to send a letter letting them know the critical importance of NIH. Take Action Now!
Thank you for taking action - together we are sending a strong message in favor of biomedical research!

Sincerely,

Robert E. Palazzo, Ph.D. FASEB President
