A Hot Paper

Doug Melton's new paper raises lots of interests, worldwidely. It was even reported on Taiwan's newspapers. Of course, Harvard wouldn't miss this good PR chance.

Here is the link:
In Breakthrough, Harvard Lab Causes Cells To Change Type

I read this paper this morning after woke up, a very important and well written paper. Authors directly reprogramed cells from one kind to the other without "dedifferentiation", showing possibilities to avoid moral dilemma on using stem cells.

While I like this paper, it reinforces my impression on current stem-cell researches. Similar to alchemy versus chemistry, "stem cell biology" obviously still has a long way to go on the "cell biology" part.

More real cell biologists are required to further advance its frontier .
